Through Elijah and the widow of Zarephath, we learn that trusting God in uncertain circumstances opens the door to experiencing His faithfulness and provision.
Week 3: No Disappointments
📖 Scripture: 1 Kings 17:1–16
This week, we encourage you to spend some quiet time with God as you read 1 Kings 17:1–16. Don't just read the words. Allow God to speak to your heart and remind you that even in seasons of uncertainty, His faithfulness never changes.
In this passage, we see God providing for Elijah during a time of drought and famine. First, God used ravens to bring Elijah food, and later, He led him to a widow who had barely enough flour and oil to prepare one last meal for herself and her son.
Yet, when God called them to trust Him, both Elijah and the widow responded in obedience. What seemed impossible became an opportunity for God to demonstrate His faithfulness. The widow's flour and oil did not run out, just as God had promised.
Sometimes, God asks us to trust Him when we cannot see how things will work out. His provision may not always come in the way we expect, but we can trust that He knows exactly what we need.
As you read, take a moment to reflect:
What does this scripture mean to you personally?
Are there areas in your life where God is asking you to trust Him, even when you cannot see how everything will work out?
The widow gave from what little she had. What can her obedience teach us about faith, generosity, and trusting God with our needs?
Have you ever experienced God's provision in an unexpected way? How did that experience strengthen your faith?
As a church family, how can we encourage one another to trust God's promises while also being willing to serve as His hands and feet to those in need?
Remember, faith isn't about having all the answers. It's about trusting the One who does. Sometimes, God allows us to walk through seasons where we have just enough for today so we can learn to depend on Him for tomorrow.
Just as God provided for Elijah and the widow, He is still faithful today. Even when our resources seem limited, His power and provision are not.
Come Sunday with an open heart, a willing spirit, and a readiness to grow together. Whether you have a testimony of God's faithfulness to share or you're walking through a season where you're still learning to trust Him, there is a place for you in the conversation.
