Mighty Wind Worship Center began in 1988, much like the New Testament church — gathered in the living room of one of our founding members. With just twelve people united in heart, spirit, and faith, a new work was born. There were no finances, no building, and no guarantees — only a willingness to trust God and step forward in obedience.

From that humble beginning, our first official service was held in a local hotel meeting room where 55 people gathered to worship. God’s presence was evident from the start, and what began as a small step of faith quickly became a growing community rooted in prayer, worship, and the transforming power of Christ.

As the ministry grew, God began opening doors in unexpected ways. When plans were being made to purchase a building at 15th and West Street, God used an organization and a local businessman to create a miracle provision, and purchased a building from us that we didn't own. That unexpected blessing led us to an old, abandoned church at 11th and Jefferson.

What had once been vacant and used by transients became the first true home of Mighty Wind Worship Center — transformed into a lighthouse of hope, refuge, and new life in Christ. Every inch of the building was used for ministry. Though teachers, musicians, and ministry leaders were few, God’s presence was strong, and He faithfully supplied everything needed for the work.

Over the years, God has blessed Mighty Wind Worship Center with steady and beautiful growth. What started with a handful of believers has become a thriving church family where lives continue to be changed by the power of God.

Our current location at 1100 Washington Avenue stands as a testimony of God’s faithfulness. This space has allowed us to expand ministry opportunities, with classrooms for teaching, offices for serving, and a sanctuary designed to gather people into the presence of the Lord.

Worship has always been at the center of who we are. The atmosphere of prayer, praise, and surrender continues to create life-changing encounters with God — moments many describe as unforgettable. Today, hundreds gather with us, united in purpose, growing in faith, and discovering authentic community as we pursue Jesus together.

We believe the same God who moved in our earliest days is still moving now — healing hearts, restoring families, and shaping disciples who live out their faith in everyday life.

As we look ahead, our story is still being written. We believe God is calling us to build more than a church building — He is shaping a strong, Spirit-filled community marked by worship, discipleship, and transformed lives.

Our vision for the future is to continue expanding our reach so that more people experience hope, healing, and spiritual growth. We are committed to raising up the next generation, strengthening families, and helping people move from simply attending church to fully living out their God-given purpose.

The heart of Mighty Wind Worship Center has always been to reflect the movement of God’s Spirit — powerful, life-giving, and transformative. Just as God was with us in the beginning and remains faithful today, we trust Him to guide us into everything He has prepared for tomorrow.
